Third world congress of Dermoscopy

It is my pleasure to bring to your attention and that of your members, the Third World Congress of Dermoscopy, which will be held for the first time south of the Equator, in Brisbane, Australia, in May 2012.

An international committee of leading experts has prepared an exciting program for the conference. It will be a three-day, full emersion in dermoscopy and related issues in the area of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer.

There will be parallel workshops on teledermatology, digital monitoring of naevi, dermoscopic-pathologic correlations and acral and nail lesions to name but a few.

Other topics will include presentations by experts in epidemiology, genetics, and dermatopathology, as well as the latest developments in the treatment of advanced melanoma. There will be a special session on confocal microscopy and the International Society for Digital Imaging of Skin will present cutting-edge optical devices for skin cancer evaluation.

The Congress is being managed by the Australasian College of Dermatologists. It will be immediately followed by the 45th Annual Scientific Meeting of the College, in the same venue. Dermatologists are eligible to attend both meetings and a special fee is offered for those who wish to attend all or part of the College meeting as well as the Congress. Brisbane is located in Australia’s subtropical north and the weather in May will be pleasantly warm, being spring, but without excessive heat. Brisbane is the fastest-growing and most dynamic city in Australia; it has excellent facilities, quality hotels and an outstanding convention centre. The city is the gateway to the tropical north, including the Great Barrier Reef, as well as the nearby Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast resorts.

Brisbane also provides an excellent opportunity for exploring other parts of Australia, including central Australia and the famous Ayers Rock.

We would be delighted if you would kindly promote this meeting to your members. We look forward to welcoming international colleagues from all countries to this important event.

With kind regards,
